6 c flour
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
3 tsp anise seed
2 c (1 lb) lard
2 eggs
1 1/2 c sugar
6-7 tbsp sweet wine, brandy or water
1/2 c sugar mixed with 1 tbsp cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Cream sugar and lard until creamy. Add eggs and anise seed to lard mixture and continue to mix until fluffy. Add wet mixture to dry ingredients and mix, adding just enough liquid (wine, brandy or water) to hold dough together. Roll on lightly floured board to approximately 1/4" thick. Cut with cookie cutters into desired shape. Dip top of cookies in cinnamon and sugar mixture and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for about 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
