Directions:
Cook the 1st four ingredients in a sauce pan to the soft crack stage. That is when a few drops of the syrup will come to a firm to hard ball when dropped into cold water. Add remaining ingredients and stir.

While syrup is cooking, pop 2 skillets of popcorn. Shake out the old maids. When the syrup is ready, pour slowly over the popcorn while somebody else stirs. When the popcorn is well coated, generously butter your hands, carefully take a large handful of popcorn and press into a ball so that it keeps it shape. When all the balls are made, wrap with plastic wrap to keep fresh.

Of course the holiday was Halloween. This was Kvach tradition. We still make them every year.
You can add nuts to this mixture. You can also spread it out on a greased baking sheet until cool and not make the balls.
