1 small hen-boiled and deboned, 1/2 c. oleo, 1 c. milk, 1 recipe of sour milk pastry, 1 tsp. salt, 4 hard boiled eggs, sliced, chicken broth.Sour milk pastry, for chicken pie, 2 c. flour, 3/4 tsp. salt, 4 tbsp. shortening, 1/2 tsp. soda, 2 tsp. baking powder, 1 c. buttermilk.

Sift dry ingredients together-cut in shortening- add buttermilk until dough consistency-roll out on floured board to 1/4 in. thickness. Cut 1/2 of rolled pastry into strips 1 inch wide-retain remaining pastry for topping- remove chicken from bone- alternate chicken, pastry strips,sliced eggs, salt, pepper, cover with broth & butter, cut into bits-top with pastry, making slits at intervals. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 min. scald milk and add to hot pie.
