2 cups brown sugar
1 cup shortening or margarine
3 eggs
about 3 1/2 cups flour
1 tea. baking soda
Filling:
1 lb. raisins
1 cup water or more
1 cup sugar
cornstarch

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening and add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add soda, dissolved in 1 tea. hot water. Add flour to make stiff dough. Roll dough thin and cut like biscuits. Bake at 350º about 14 min. Remove from cookie sheet immediately. For filling, boil raisins, sugar and water together and thicken with paste of cornstarch and water. When totally cool, put filling between 2 cookies and keep in airtight container. Wait a day or two to eat.
