1 C sugar
4 T flour
4 T cocoa
1/2 t salt
3 eggs
4 T butter
1 t vanilla
1 1/2 C milk
Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, flour, cocoa and salt. Stir in 1 C milk and let it get warm. Meanwhile, mix 3 egg yolks with 1/2 C milk then stir in first mixture. Cook until thick, stirring constantly. Then stir in butter and vanilla. Pour into baked pie shell after the butter has melted. Top with meringue or whipped cream.

This was the chocolate pie recipe mom used. She got the recipe from Viola Whitford Forrest. Her first husband, Jimmy Whitford, was my grandmother's half brother. He was killed in the Korean war.
