Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar and egg. Add milk and vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients. Do NOT add too much flour, just enough to have dough hold together. The less you mix the dough, the better the cookies will be. Roll out until about 1/2 inch thick. Cut out cookies and bake at 350 for 11 minutes. Do not let cookies brown. Cook and add powdered sugar icing. We like to color the icing...pink for Valentines Day, Red and Green for Christmas. etc You can also leave icing the cream color and add a pecan in the center for a nice effect.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
My mother, LaWana Morrell, made these cookies every Valentine's Day and also on special occasions throughout the year. Also, Dick's sister, Michelle, started a Christmas tradition ands she always brings these to the annual Pace Family Christmas Party. I know that Brooke and Sarah like to make these for their families throughout the year.
