cut up green tomatoes
cut up onions
pickling salt
3 c sugar
1 1/2 c vinegar
1 pouch pickling spice

Directions:
Directions:
Fill a stainless steel pan half full with cut up green tomatoes. Place a layer of onions on top of tomatoes and sprinkle with 2 T pickling salt. Fill remaining pan with green tomatoes. Put another layer of onions on top and sprinkle with another 2 T pickling salt. Cover and let stand overnight. In the morning drain and rinse well. In a clean pan, add the sugar, vinegar and pickling spice. Put green tomato and onion mixture in pan. Bring to a boil. Simmer 2 hours. Put in jars and process 30 minutes.
