1 egg, beaten
1 c. milk, scalded (not boiled)
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. shortening
3/4 yeast cake dissolved in 1/3 c. warm water

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all together with enough flour to make a stiff dough. Let rise to double in size. Roll on floured board and cut with donut cutter. Let rise 2 more hours. Fry in deep fat (lard is best).
Great sugared, frosted or plain with new maple syrup.
