3 oz. package cream cheese, softened
101/2 oz. can asparagus stalks, well drained and patted dry with paper towels
3 tbsp. butter, melted

Directions:
Trim crusts from bread, flatten each slice by covering it with waxed paper and placing a heavy book on top.
Spread the cheese on each slice and place one stalk on each piece. Roll the bread up, jelly roll style. Slice each roll in 1/2 to 3/4" slices and arrange on cookie sheet. This much can be done ahead of time; cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate.
When ready to serve, preheat oven to 450º. Brush each slice with melted butter. Bake for a few minutes, watching carefully until lightly brown and heated through.
