1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
1 1/2 c. lightly packed light brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cloves
2 1/2 c. quick-cooking oatmeal (not instant)
1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. raisins
1 tsp. vanilla

Frosting
1/2 c. butter
3 c. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3-4 tbls water

Preheat oven to 350บ. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
Using a electric mixer, cream together the butter, shortening, and brown sugar at low speed until fluffy. Add the eggs and beat until the mixture is light in color. Add the buttermilk and mix to combine.
Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, salt, and cloves. At a low speed gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture. Using a spatula, fold in the oatmeal, walnuts, raisins, and vanilla, blending well.
Drop by rounded tsp. 1 1/2 inches apart on the cookie sheet. Bake for 12 min.
While the cookies are baking, make the icing. In a saucepan, heat the butter over medium heat until golden brown, Stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; stir in the sugar and vanilla. Stir in enough water to make an icing of drizzling consistency.
Remove the cookies to wire racks to cool. Drizzle with Brown Butter Icing while the cookies are still warm.บบบบบ
