1 c dark molasses
1 c sugar
1 c shortening
2 eggs
1 1/2 t cinnamon
1 t ground cloves
2 t ginger
3 t baking soda
4 t baking powder
1/2 t salt
4 1/2 c flour

Directions:
Directions:
Beat sugar, molasses, shortening and eggs well. Add dry ingredients. Chill several hours. Make small 1 inch balls, roll in sugar and bake at 400º for 5 minutes on a greased cookie sheet.
