2 Tbsp. Butter
8 oz. Fresh White Mushrooms, cleaned and sliced in ~1/4” slices

2 Tbsp. Shortening
2 lb. Beef Sirloin Steak, cut in 1 in. cubes

10.5 oz. can Beef Consommé
1/3 C. Cranberry Juice Cocktail
2 Tbsp. Soy Sauce
1 clove Garlic, minced
1/2 tsp. Black Pepper
1/4 tsp. onion salt

2 Tbsp. Cornstarch
1/4 C. Water

4 C. Cooked Rice or Egg Noodles

Melt butter in a large skillet and add mushrooms. Sprinkle with Garlic powder, if desired. Sauté mushrooms for 6-8 minutes, until tender and slightly browned. Remove with slotted spoon and set aside. Drain any liquid out of pan and wipe out with paper towel.
Melt shortening in skillet; brown meat in shortening on all sides, uncovered. Stir in consommé, cranberry juice cocktail, soy sauce, garlic, black pepper and onion salt. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour or until meat is tender.
Return mushrooms to pan.
In a small bowl, whisk cornstarch and water together; gradually stir into meat-mushroom mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir for 1 minute.
Serve over warm rice or egg noodles.
