Spring lettuce, or any fine lettuce similar to Boston or Bibb lettuce.
Thick German bacon (cut off the rind)
Vinegar

Put lettuce leaves in dish. Fry bacon, drain. Cut into ½ inch squares, about ¼ inch thick. Sprinkle bacon pieces over the lettuce. Mix bacon grease with vinegar and pour the hot mixture over the lettuce.
