Basic White Rice Recipe

1 cup long grain white rice,
2 cups water,
1 teaspoon salt,
1 bay leaf, optional

Directions:
Directions:
1. Rinse the rice 2 times before cooking. This removes any dust or foreign matter that may have been missed at the factory. Drain well.

2. Add all of the ingredients to a pot and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer and cover for 30 minutes. Try not to uncover or stir until 30 minutes is up.

3. Remove from the heat and uncover. Fluff the rice with a fork and remove the bay leaf.

4. Serve immediately or run under cold water to stop the cooking process. When ready to serve, run under hot water to heat.
