1 cup Crisco 2 eggs 1 lb. dates (pitted and chopped) 1 t baking soda 1½ cups sugar 1 cup chopped pecans 3 t hot water 2½ cups flour
Cream shortening and sugar together. Beat in the eggs. Sift dry ingredients and add to first mixture. Fold in dates, nuts and hot water. Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375º for about 10 minutes.
