1 medium head
5 slices of bacon or
1 large slice of ham
1 large garlic bud if using the ham or
1/2 tsp of garlic salt if using the bacon
1/2 cup of chopped onions
1/2 tsp of fine course black pepper

Discard outside leaves, wash. Cut into wedges and
remove core, or shred and discard core.

Saute bacon or ham. Heat 1 1/2 inch of water and bring to a boil.
Add onions, bacon or ham. Add chopped garlic bud or garlic salt and
black pepper. Add cabbage. Cover and cook wedges about 20 minutes
or until crisp tender ; cook shredded cabbage about 10 minutes or until
tender. Drain and serve.
