2 lb. stewing beef
4 lbs small whole onions or 8 lbs canned onions, drained
1/4 c olive oil
3 or 4 fresh tomatoes, chopped and seeded or 2 small can tomatoes
2 T tomato paste
4 T red wine vinegar
6 peppercorns
1 lg. bay leaf
5 cloves garlic, chopped
salt
1/2 c water

Directions:
Directions:
Warm olive oil in Dutch oven. Brown meat. Add rest of ingredients and simmer 1 1/2 hours.
