1 1/2 cup sifted (or pre-sifted) flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup vegetable shortening or margarine
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. milk
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, and sugar. Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse corn meal. Blend in the egg, milk, and vanilla. Roll out on a floured board to 1/16 inch thickness. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in 400º oven for 6-8 minutes until they look lightly browned.
