Sift flour, sugar, salt and cut into shortening. Put egg yolk in measuring cup and add milk to make 2/3 cup. Add to flour mixture. Mix just enough so dough shapes into ball. Roll out half to 15x11 pan.

Cover with the cornflakes and add 5 cups sliced apples. Mix 1 tsp of cinnamon and 1-1/2 cup sugar. Sprinkle over apples.

Roll out rest of dough and put on top of apples. Beat egg whites until stiff and spread on crust.

Bake at 400 for 40 minutes.

While hot, drizzle with glaze of 1 cup powdered sugar and 2 TBSP of lemon juice.
