1 c. unsalted butter, softened
2 c. plus 1 tbsp. sifted flour
1/2 c. sifted confectioner's sugar
4 large eggs, at room temperature
2 c. granulated sugar
Grated rind of 1 large lemon
6 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1/2 tsp. baking powder
11/2 c. chopped walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º and grease 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Beat
together the butter, 2 cups of flour, and confectioner's suga
until fluffy. Scrape the dough into the prepared pan and
smooth into a thin layer that evenly covers the bottom of the
pan. Bake 15 minutes. Meanwhile, beat eggs and sugar until
light. Add lemon rind and juice; mix. Combine the remaining
tablespoon of flour with the baking powder, and sprinkle
evenly over batter. Add the nuts and mix. Pour batter into the
precooked crust and return to the the oven. Bake another 35
minutes until the filling is set. Let cool slightly before cutting
into squares. Loosen crust around the edges of the pan with a
knife, then remove.
