3 lbs. beef chuck, shoulder or blade.
1 tsp. salt.
1 tsp. ground black pepper.
2 T. vegetable oil.
1 onion, chopped large.
5 medium potatoes, peeled.
5 carrots, chopped large.
2 T. worchestershire sauce.
1/2 tsp. liquid smoke.
1 tsp. soy sauce.
2 cloves minced garlic.
2 cups beef broth.

Cut beef into 2 to 3 inch cubes. Place in large pot or crock pot. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and garlic. Add the remaining ingredients. Preheat oven to 300º. In the large pot add 2 cups of broth and bring to boil, reduce heat and cover. Place in oven and cook for two hours. Or in crock pot add all ingredients plus 2 more cups water and slow cook for 8 - 10 hours. Serve in bowls with good buttered french bread.
