Crisp Molasses Cookies Recipe

3 1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ginger
4 T. butter
4 T. sugar
1/2 c molasses
1/3 c. water

Sift flour. Add soda, salt and ginger and sift together 3 times.
Cream shortening. Gradually add sugar. Mix thoroughly. Add
molasses, then flour, then water, alternating a little of each at a
time. Beat well after each addition. Toss on floured board. Roll
1/4 inch thick. Cut with floured cutter. Bake at 350 for 8
