3/4 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 to 1/2 cup honey
1 egg
1/4 cup water
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups uncooked oats (not 5-minute kind)

1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp soda
1 cup finely grated pecans
1 cup white raisins or chocolate chips

Blend shortening, brown sugar, honey, egg and water until creamy. Add all other ingredients. Mix well. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes. Cool on racks.
