"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Fried Green Tomatoes, by Adam Jensen, is from RQ&N Recipes,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
3 unripened tomatoes (green) 1 egg 2 tbs. milk 1 packet dry Italian or ranch dressing mix 3/4 cup dry breadcrumbs
Slice tomatoes to preferred thickness. In a shallow bowl, beat eggs and milk together. In another shallow bowl mix the dressing mix with breadcrumbs. Dip each tomato slice first into the egg mixture; then coat with the breadcrumbs. Fill deep frying pan with 1/4 inch oil and place on medium-high heat. Fry tomato slices, turning once, until the coating is crisp and light golden brown on both sides. Usually about 3-5 minutes for each batch.
