1 cup sugar
1 cup shortening
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg
2 Tbs. orange juice
2 tsp. orange rind
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cups finely chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, orange juice and rind. Fold in the rest of the ingredients. Shape into rolls in wax paper. Chill in the refrigerator until firm. Slice and put on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in preheated 350º oven for 10 minutes.
