Mexican Lasagna Recipe

1-1/2 # ground beef(80/20)
Salt,pepper and garlic to taste
1 16 oz jar of salsa (mild or hot)
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
2 c small curd cottage cheese
1 small can of green chilies (optional)
2 eggs, beaten
10-12 corn tortillas, torn
4 c shredded Monterey Jack cheese

In a large skillet, brown beef, drain and return to skillet. Season. Stir in salsa, tomato sauce and chilies. Simmer for 20 minutes. Mix cottage cheese and eggs together and set aside. In a greased oblong baking dish, layer 1/2 of the meat, 1/2 of the tortillas, 1/2 of the cheese mixture and 1/2 of the cheese. Repeat layers. Bake uncovered at 350ºF for 30 minutes. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
