1 C. sugar
3/4 C. shortening
1 egg
1/4 C. molasses
2 C. flour
1/4 t. salt
1 t. soda
1 t. cinnamon
1 t. ginger
1 t. cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar, egg and molasses, Stir in dry ingredients. Refrigerate overnight. Roll into one inch balls; roll in sugar. Bake on greased cookie sheet 8 - 10 min.

This recipe was given to my mom, Corene Johnson, by Linda Dunn, my sister-in-law Brenda Johnson's sister. It was given to Linda by her uncle Jim, who got it from his mom. The cookies are delicious.
