1/2 c brown sugar
2 c water
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp maple extract

Boil sugars and water together until dissolved and thickened. Add flavorings

Mom's copy of this recipe had the following notation next to it: OR
Boil 1 c water. Add 2 1/3 c brown sugar and stir over low heat just till dissolved. Add maple flavoring.
