1 1/2 cups enriched flour,
1/2 tsp. double-acting baking powder,
1/2 tsp. salt,
1/2 tsp. baking soda,
1/2 cup sugar,
1/2 cup shortening,
1 egg,
2 tbsp. milk,
1 tsp. vanilla.

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, soda, and sugar. Cut in the shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. Blend in the egg, milk and vanilla. Roll out on a floured board to 1/16" thickness. Cut with 2 1/2" cutter. Place on ungreased "cooky" sheet. Bake in moderately hot(400º) oven for 6-8 min.
