1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. molasses
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. lukewarm water
3 c. flour
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. raisins
1 egg

Cream sugar and shortening. Add molasses. Dissolve baking soda in the water and add. Add flour with spices, raisins and beaten egg.

Bake 10-12 minutes at 350.
