1 lb. pea, navy, or white beans
1/4 lb. salt pork, cut into small pieces
4 tbl. sugar
1/3 c. dark molasses
2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Soak beans overnight, then parboil them for 10 minutes. Drain.
Mix together the sugar, molasses, salt and pepper.

Place beans and salt pork in a bean pot. Pour over the molasses mixture and then cover with hot water.
Bake at 300º for 6 - 8 hours.
ALWAYS keep the beans covered with water.
If you have lo leave the beans for several hours, cover the bean pot to keep the beans moist.
