1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 oz red food coloring
2 T cocoa
2 cups flour
1 cup buttermilk with 1 tsp salt added
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp soda
1 T vinegar


Frosting:

3 T flour
1 cup milk
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together butter, sugar and eggs. Make a paste of the red food coloring and cocoa. Mix together. Add alternating (begin and end with flour) the flour and buttermilk/salt. Add vanilla. In a bowl mix 1 tsp soda to the vinegar (it will foam). Add to the mixture. Put in 2 - 9" layer pans and put into oven immediately. Bake at 350º for 30 minutes.

Frosting: Cook flour and milk until it just boils. Cool. Combine butter, sugar and vanilla and beat until fluffy Add to flour/milk and beat until creamy. Frost cake. Refrigerate cake.
