2 eggs
2 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp soda
1/4 c. shortening
5-1/2 c flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla.

Directions:
Directions:
Blend flour, sugar, salt and shortening. Make a well in the dough; add eggs and buttermilk, to which soda has been added.
Add vanilla and work.
Roll out 1/4 inches thick and cut into desired shapes.
Sprinkle tops with sugar, if desired.
Bake at 425 on greased cookie sheet.
