"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Pepper Relish, by Ruth Goin Stivers, is from Goin Cookin',
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
12 red peppers 12 green peppers 12 large onions 2 c. vinegar 2 c. sugar 3 T. salt
Clean out peppers and run peppers and onion through a food grinder. Cover with boiling water and let stand five minutes. Drain well and add vinegar, sugar and salt. Boil five minutes. Put in sterile jars.
I remeber Mother making something called chow chow. Perhaps this is the same recipe -- not sure. Now we could certainly use a food processor rather than a grinder.
