Personal Notes:
This recipe sounds delicious and Mom must have thought also as she struggled with typing and printing it to save for her file. I can only take you this far with the directions. The ingredients are typed with many hand corrections but they are legible enough to be accurate. The directions are hand printed and tug at my heartstrings. This had to be written in the last year of her 97 years of life. They are very shaky with the last line not at all legible. I don't know if the baker selects either the filling or topping to ice the cooled brownies or somehow use both. This will be an experiment, but with the great effort Mom put forth to record this recipe, I must include it in this cook book dedicated to her. This effort demonstrates that hope does exist eternally.

PS - Further research resulted in the discovery of this recipe clipped from a Hershey ad in an unidentified publication. For some reason, Mom typed and also hand copied the recipe apparently from this clipping, perhaps to share with a friend. Sadly, it didn't leave her kitchen.

The clipping directs us to spread the filling over a cool cake and chill. Then pour topping over filling and chill before serving. You may also use green food coloring in the filling to achieve a mint green center layer.
