Mix and boil:
2 c light brown sugar
1/4 c molasses
2 T vinegar
2 T water
1/8 tsp salt
When nearly done, add 1/4 c butter and just before turning in pan, add 2 tsp vanilla and nuts if desired.

There are no directions as to how long to boil this recipe, but since taffy is the consistency of caramels, I would suggest to a firm ball. Boil until a drop of mixture in cold water forms the firmness you would want the finished product.

Personal Notes:
This recipe has Mom's maiden name only recorded, which means she copied it before 1933.
Good luck in your attempt but it should be worth the risk.
