"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Green Bean Casserole, by Betty, is from Our Family Cookbook Favorites,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
2 cans cut green beans (drained and liquid saved) 1 can cream of mushroom soup 1 can liquid from beans 1/4 cup bacon bits 1 can french fried onion rings 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese 1 can slivered water chestnuts
Mix the liquid and cream of mushroom soup and green beans and heat. Stir in the grated cheese and slivered water chestnuts. Add bacon bits and pour into casserole. Bake at 350º for 30 minutes. Crush onion rings and sprinkle on top. Heat 5 minutes and serve.
This is another version of the famous green bean casserole we have on Thanksgiving or Christmas. Its good, and will serve a lot of people with all the other dishes you have for those dinners.
