1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 egg
1 cup molasses
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnoman
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup hot water
Whipping cream
2 tsp. confectioner's sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and butter. Add beaten egg, molasses, and sifted together dry ingredients. Mix. Pour into greased 9 x 12 pan. Bake 35 minutes at 350. Cool. Cut into squares and top with the whipped cream which has been sweetened with the confectioner's sugar.

This is my Grandma Dickson's recipe. She used to make this for my family when we would go to her house for dinner on Wednesday nights. This was a favorite of my whole family.
