Cut cucumbers into sticks/spears. Pour boiling water over them. Let stand 1 to 5 hours. Drain and pack into jars. Make pickling solution to cover as follows:
3 3/4 c cider vinegar
3 c sugar
3 tbsp salt
4 1/2 tsp celery seed
4 1/2 tsp turmeric
3/4 tsp mustard seed

Boil solution for 5 minutes. Pour, while boiling hot, over cucumbers. Cap with new canning lids, and process in boiling water bath to cover for 5 minutes. Yield: 6 pints of solution.
