Stewing the chicken
1 stewing hen
1 carrot sliced
1/2 cup of chopped onion
1/4 cup of diced celery
1 bay leave
1 Tsp of butter
1/8 tsp of turmeric
1 Tsp 1/4 tsp of garlic salt
salt and pepper to taste

Dumplings
1 cup of flour
1 1/2 tsp of baking powder
1/2 tsp of salt
2 Tsp of cooking oil
1 egg
1/4 cup plus 2 Tsp of milk
1 Tsp of parsley (optional)

Directions:
Wash and place Chicken in a large kettle. Add the carrots, onion, and celery. Add the seasonings for stewing the chicken. Cover with water and cook until chicken is tender. Add water as it boils down. When chicken is done, remove from broth and reserve broth for dumplings. Place the chicken on a serving platter. and make your dumpling.

Dumplings
Sift together your dry ingredients, stir until completely blended the oil, egg, and milk. You should have a soft dough.

Bring you broth to boil and drop dumplings by spoonful into hot broth, and reduce heat to medium and make sure the broth simmers, but does not boil hard. Simmer for 10 minutes uncovered, and 10 minutes with a tight cover. Remove to the platter with chicken and serve gravy on the side.
