3 c. sugar, 2/3 c. cocoa, 1/8 tsp. salt, 1 1/2 c. milk,
1/4 c. butter, 1 tsp vanilla

Butter 8-9" foil pan. Combine sugar, cocoa and salt in 4 quart saucepan. Stir in milk.Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it comes to a rolling boil, it will sound like plip, plip, plop, plop! When it reaches 234º or a ball forms when dropped into a glass of very cold ice water, remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. DO NOT STIR!. Cool at room temperature to 110 º. Beat with a WOODEN SPOON until thickened and it begins to lose some of the gloss. Quickly pour into pans.

My grandmother used to send care packages to use when we were kids and they always contained a pan of her fudge for each of us. I liked mine plain but my brother liked walnuts in his. I have made this recipe a few times and it usually comes out ok but not like Gram's!
