3½ cup flour
1 cup sugar
1½ tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup shortening (all butter or ½ butter/½ margarine)
1 egg
½ cup milk
½ tsp vanilla
1¼ cup raisins

Directions:

Sift dry ingredients into bowl; cut in shortening as for pie crust.
Beat egg, milk and vanilla, then add to flour mixture.
Mix in raisins. Stir until all ingredients are moistened and dough holds together.
Roll out into ¼ inch thickness on lightly floured board. Cut with 2" round cutter.
Heat griddle to 325º or until a few drops of water dance on it.
Oil lightly, place cookies on top and cook like pancakes 3 to 4 minutes.
