1 3/4 cups of sifted cake flour
1 1/2 cups of sugar
1 tsp of baking soda
1 tsp of salt
1/2 cup of cocoa
1/2 cups of shortening
1 cup of buttermilk
2 unbeaten eggs

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º

Sift together all of the dry ingredients. Add shortening and 2/3 cup of buttermilk and beat for 2 minutes. Add remaining buttermilk and the eggs one at a time. Beat cake for an additional 2 minutes. Pour into a well greased 8 X 11 inch cake pan and bake for about 30 minutes.
