1 1/2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c water
2/3 c sugar
1/2 c butter
2 tsp vanilla
1 c sifted flour
3/4 c sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 c shortening
1/2 c milk
1 egg
1 - 9" pie shell
1/2 c chopped pecans or walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Melt chocolaate in water. Add 2/3 c sugar. Bring to boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, stir in butter and 1 1/2 tsp vanilla. Beat 2 minutes. Add egg. Beat 2 minutes. Pour into unbaked pie shell. Stir chocolate sauce well and carefully pur over batter. Sprinkle top with nuts. Bake in 350 oven 55 to 60 minutes.
