1 cup of brown sugar packed
1/4 cup of cream
1 stick of butter
1 tsp of vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
In a heavy bottomed sauce pan combined the sugar and cream. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it reaches the soft ball stage. Remove from heat and add the butter that has been cut into small pieces, beat with electric mixer until it is creamy, (about 15 minutes). Add the vanilla and continue beating until it starts to thicken. Spread on cake.

This recipe came from my Grandmother and we always called it grandma's frosting. Mom made this often when she baked a chocolate cake.
