Oats Cake Recipe

1 1/3 cups boiling water
1 cup quick Oats
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp soda
1 heaping tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt

6 tbsp melted margarine
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup canned milk
1 cup coconut
1/2 cup nut meats

Stir oats in boiling water, remove from heat and let cool. Mix sugar, shortening, brown sugar and eggs. Add oats mixture to it. Sift flour, soda, cinnamon and salt. Add to mixture. Bake in 325 degree heat for 45 to 50 minutes. While cake is baking, mix all ingredients together to make topping. Then spread over cake and return to 450 oven for 10-12 minutes.
