2 c flour
2 c sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 sticks butter
4 T cocoa
1 c water
1/2 c buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla

Frosting
1 stick butter
4T cocoa
6 T buttermilk
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 c nuts

Sift in bowl-sugar, flour, baking soda and salt. Melt two sticks butter in a small sauce pan. Add 4 T cocoa and water. Bring to boil. Pour into dry ingredients and stir rapidly. Mix well. Add 1/2 c buttermilk, eggs and 1 tsp vanilla. Beat vigorously. Pour onto large greased cookie sheet with sides. Bake at 350º for 15-20 minutes.

Frosting
While cake is baking, in a small sauce pan place 1 stick butter, 4 T cocoa and 6 T buttermilk. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Add 1 box of sifted powdered sugar and 1 tsp vanilla.Stir until smooth then stir in nuts. Pour over baked cake while frosting and cake are hot.

This cake needs time to cool after it is made so the frosting can set. It is so rich you will want to cut the pieces small. My mom gave me this recipe and being a chocolate addict herself, we had it often!
