1 large jar (4½-5oz) dried sliced beef, chopped or 1 lb. sausage, browned, drained and crumbled.
1 stick butter
4 heaping tsp. flour
4 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat. Add dried beef until it begins to sizzle. Add flour and quickly stir to mix with beef. Gradually add milk while stirring slowly, about 1 cup at a time. Bring mixture to a slow boil, turn down heat if needed, until thickened as desired. Serve over biscuits or toast. Serves 6-8

Note: For sausage gravy, use 1 pound of sausage in place of the dried beef.

This gravy can give anyone a good day's start. Homemade biscuits are the best way to go for the gravy, but toast will suffice. This dish is well complemented by a side of fresh fruit. This recipe can also be used for dinner time if you want to mix things up a little.
