6-8 large cabbage leaves
1 c rice
1/2 lb. sausage meat
1/2 lb. ground beef
1 med to large finely chopped onion
2 teaspoons of salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
2 c sauerkraut ( rinsed )
1 smoked pork hock or smoked sausage cut into pieces

sauce: 2-1/2 c canned tomatoes (stewed may be used )
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 c water
1 can tomato sauce
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper

cook cabbage leaves 3 to 4 minutes and drain and place on paper towel
mix other ingredients and place in cabbage leave and roll.
place 1/2 of sauerkraut on bottom of baking dish.
place cabbage rolls on top and cover with sauce, smoked sauage and remaining sauerkraut.
bake covered for 1 hour in 375 degree oven.
uncover and bake an additional 1/2 hour.

This hearty dish will satisfy anyone's hunger so much so that he will find himself asleep on the couch with in twenty minutes of eating.
