2 (6½ oz) cans minced clams
¾ cup butter
1 cup onion, finely chopped
¾ cup flour
1 cup celery (with leaves), finely diced
1 qt. half & half cream
Dash of pepper
1½ tsp salt
2 cups potatoes, diced
½ tsp sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Drain juice from clams into saucepan with vegetables. Add enough water to barely cover the vegetables and simmer with lid on until potatoes are tender (about 20 minutes). Meanwhile, melt butter in a pot, add flour: blend and cook 1 to 2 minutes. Add cream; continue cooking, stirring until smooth and thick. Add undrained vegetables and clams. Heat through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
